Warfield Preservation Guidelines

The Historic Preservation Guidelines for the Warfield Complex (2002), prepared by preservation architect Richard Wagner, AIA, David H. Gleason Associates, Inc. under a federal Save America's Treasures grant, establish standards for rehabilitating the historic buildings of the former Springfield State Hospital campus. The guidelines cover exterior building materials (masonry, wood, architectural metals), roofs, windows, doors, interior spaces and structural systems, mechanical systems, energy efficiency, building additions, signs, illumination, and landscape design. Administered by the Sykesville Historic District Commission.
